IntroductionThe most serious form of skin cancer is melanoma, which is expected to be diagnosed in about 68,720 persons in 2009. According to the American Cancer Society, substantially more than 1 million unreported cases of basal cell or squamous cell cancers occur annually. Most, but not all, of these forms of cancers are highly curable. The most common serious form of skin cancer is melanoma. It is estimated there will be 8,650 deaths from melanoma in 2009.
